Before the clouds arrive
Mari Jungstedt
A CONTROVERSIAL SPANISH PROSECUTOR, who is married to a Swede, is found dead in a ravine in the mountain town of Ronda on the Costa del Sol. Before long, the police determine that it is a case of murder.
High school teacher Lisa Hagel has been left by her husband of 30 years and moves to Spain from Sweden in an attempt to start over. She has bought a dilapidated villa in a sleepy village and immediately sets about tearing down walls.
At a flamenco class, she meets police detective and widower Hector Correa, who also has emotional scars, and before Lisa knows it, she has been drawn into the investigation of the mysterious murder of the prosecutor.
Soon another murder is committed, and this time the clues lead all the way back to General Franco and Spain's bloody history.
Before the Clouds Come is the first installment in Mari Jungstedt's new crime series, which takes place on Spain's Costa del Sol with the Andalusian mountains and the urban pulse of Malaga as a backdrop.
