Where the fire burns

The second volume in the series about Johanne and her family's emigration to America.

1883. It has now been four years since Johanne arrived in Nebraska to reunite with Jens, and much has happened since. The farm has grown, as have the children and Johanne's faith in Jens.

But unforeseen events cause everything to change in an instant. The farm is in danger, Anton must flee, and a graveyard slowly begins to take shape on their land.

Meanwhile, the Dane Anders arrives in New Orleans aboard the brig Santa Orelia. He lets himself be guided by chance, which leads him up the Mississippi on a paddle steamer and around America with Buffalo Bill's traveling Wild West Show, until the day Anders suddenly finds himself on Johanne's land in Nebraska in the company of an old Pawnee chief.
